Barnoldswick Monument

For fifty years, the final Sunday after 30 October was “Rohilla Sunday” in Barnoldswick.

The St. John’s Ambulance Brigade led a parade through the town to the Cenotaph in Letcliffe Park, where a wreath was laid in memory of the lost twelve, followed by a united church service.

There had been talk of a memorial at the time of the disaster and a fund was started, but other tragedies overtook events and their names were finally included in the list of over two hundred and fifty young lives were lost in “War to end Wars”.

Many more were added only twenty five years later.
