William Daly

William Daly was born in Ireland and came to this country to find work. After working in a coal mine he moved to Barnoldswick where he learned to weave.

Cotton workers were the highest paid operatives in the Industrial field and earned considerably more than miners.

He lived at 32, Westgate with his wife Esther and their six children.

William’s knowledge of first aid brought many of his neighbours, friends and workmates to his home for treatment to minor ailments and injuries.
