Harry Hodkinson

Harry Hodkinson was one of three brothers serving in the forces. John was in the Red Cross, Arthur in the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment and would later win the Military Award.

Harry was twenty seven, still a bachelor and was living in the family home, 14, Bank Street, until his call – up. He was a keen member of Barnoldswick Prize Band as well as the Ambulance Brigade and was a weaver at Hartley’s Crownest Sheeting Mill.

Seven year old Ernest Hodkinson stood by his mother’s side as she received the news that Harry was missing.
