After many years of long voyages and separations, it was a pleasant change for Captain Neilson to be based at his home port of Leith. He lived at 9, Bright’s Crescent in Edinburgh. The docks were within sight of Castle Rock. As Captain of a hospital ship plying between Britain and the northern ports of France he should be able to see his wife Helen and their three children more often.
